Brenda Rooney Counselling ("we," "I") is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what information this website collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It is written to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
About counselling records: this policy covers information collected through this website only. Health information related to counselling sessions is handled separately, with stricter protections, in accordance with Alberta's Health Information Act and the policies of our practice management system (Jane App). Nothing you submit through this website becomes part of a clinical record.
What we collect
This website does not use analytics trackers or advertising cookies. We collect personal information only when you choose to provide it:
- Training interest form: your name, email address, and your answers about yoga training background, teaching experience, and interest in the training.
- Direct contact: whatever you include when you email or phone us.
- Technical logs: our hosting providers (Netlify and Cloudflare) automatically process IP addresses and request data to deliver the site securely. We do not use this data to identify visitors.
Online booking happens on Jane App's website, which has its own privacy policy.
Why we collect it
Information from the training interest form is used only to contact you about the Yin training — confirming details, offering spots, and arranging payment if you choose to register. We do not use it for marketing unrelated to the training, and we never sell or rent personal information.
Consent
Submitting a form on this website is your consent to collect and use that information for the purposes described above. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us — we will remove your information from the interest list.
Where your information is stored
Form submissions are stored in a Google Workspace spreadsheet accessible only to Brenda Rooney. Google may store data on servers outside Canada (including the United States); while stored outside Canada, information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. By submitting the form, you acknowledge this cross-border processing.
How long we keep it
Interest-list information is kept until the training concludes or for up to two years, whichever comes first, and is then deleted — unless you register for the training, in which case registration records are kept as required for business and tax purposes.
Safeguards
We limit access to personal information to those who need it (in practice, Brenda Rooney), protect accounts with strong authentication, and use HTTPS encryption across this website.
Your rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact [email protected] or call (403) 669-8605. We will respond within 45 days as required by Alberta PIPA.

If you have a concern we haven't resolved, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
